Micro Servo Actuator — Properties
Hollow shaft application
A product of German/Swiss cooperation: the world's smallest zero backlash positioning actuator with hollow shaft. The fascinating view of micro gear wheels meshed with one another next to which a human hair looks like a tree trunk is almost hypnotising. The demand for high-performance micro actuators to operate, for example, mirrors, lenses, microscope objects and chips, or even to move grippers and robot axes, is constantly on the rise.
A one-of-a-kind actuator
This world record came into being in cooperation with maxon motor ag: The Micro Harmonic Drive is the basis for this mite — augmented by a brushless maxon EC motor having a 1.2 watt power rating. The bore hole diameter is 0.65 mm, thus providing adequate room as a passageway for laser beams, vacuum, compressed air or optical fibres. In combination with the maxon motor, overall axial length is only 31.3 mm — without the motor just 12.3 mm.
High efficiency — low weight
This world's smallest zero-play positioning actuator offers an output torque of 3 mNm at a reduction ratio of 160:1 and output speeds up to 400 min-1. High efficiency, extremely flat-type design and low weight are other features that distinguish this miniature servo actuator with maxon motor. As a consequence of its outstanding repeatability (10 arc seconds), this actuator is well suited for positioning applications in semiconductor manufacturing equipment or optical devices.
